CC Africa’s Grumeti River Camp is situated in a remote valley in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park. Set beneath makuti (palm frond) canopies on a bywater of the Grumeti River, Grumeti’s spacious tents are decorated in vibrant colours, including hand-blown Kenyan glassware, African cloth and local sculptured furnishings.
Each of the 10 spacious tented suites feature a large bed made of Tanzanian cypress and comfortable deck furniture, both in and outdoors. En-suite bathrooms offer separate alfresco showers, open to the sun and stars. The intimate guest areas boast colourful open fronted sitting and dining areas and a domed bar. The spacious decks are perfect for sundowners overlooking the river and the dramatic boma ensures star studded romantic dinners. Delicious Pan African food is prepared on traditional jikos (fires) or in stone ovens. For a special occasion private dinners can be arranged next to the swimming pool.
Due to the location of the Grumeti River Lodge there is an abundance of wildlife to see. Some of Africa’s largest and oldest Nile crocodiles are to be found on this stretch of river and during the annual great migration (April – June) when hundreds and thousands of wildebeest and zebra cross the Grumeti River the crocodiles prey on them. In the massive plains that stretch north from the camp large herds of herbivores and predators can be seen.
