Larsens Camp sits discreetly on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in Samburu National Reserve, its 17 spacious tents raised on wooden platforms and nestled between acacia tree and doum palms.
This is camping in style, with hot showers, a surprising degree of comfort and a heavy dash of colonial elegance. Elephant and impala splash about in the shallows, while endless birdlife, baboons and vervet monkeys, whoop, and swing about in the treetops. The décor is casual safari chic, and the food is excellent – cooked before you on big open barbecues. Dinner may be served in a tent, but the table is laid with silver and china.
The Tent Bar is a perfect place to relax after dinner and enjoy the romantic surroundings of the camp. Larsens Lounge is a great place to spend an evening playing board games and going through the library. Guests are welcome to enjoy the swimming pool at the nearby Samburu Lodge at no extra cost.
