Situated in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh National Park is a renowned tiger reserve and supports one of the highest concentrations of tiger on the Subcontinent.
Sprawling over 40 acres of grounds, the Mahua Kothi lodge (part of the Taj Group)has twelve charming guest suites which are built to replicate the vernacular style of Central India, with wooden shutters, handmade pottery roof tiles and richly coloured local textiles used throughout. Each has an en-suite bathroom that features twin hand basins, an indoor shower, bath, separate w.c. and can be accessed through private courtyards with shaded seating areas. Guests can enjoy the early morning tea, coffee and homemade spice biscuits which are discretely delivered to the suites and left in the courtyard among aromatic burning incense. The bicycles parked in the courtyard, are an invitation to explore or guests can relax by the swimming pool.
In the February 2007 Mahua Kothi was included in the UK Sunday Times Hot List featuring "The sexiest hotel. The coolest pools. In May 2007 the lodge was included in the Conde Naste Traveller (UK) 2007 Hot List of the World's 65 Cool New Places to Stay. In May 2007 Mahua Kothi was mentioned in the Conde Naste Traveller (US) 2007 Hot List of the Year's 138 Top New Hotels.
