A member of the classic retreats group, Marlin Lodge is built on stilts above Flamingo Bay in the idyllic Bazaruto Archipelago.

Four private chalets come complete with four-poster beds, his-and-hers vanity units, open-plan bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, a private lounge and a verandah with seating and a path leading down to the beach. There’s a wellness centre, too, and a good range of watersports and activities. Each day you’ll be reminded of the Archipelago’s colourful past as fishermen pole their beautiful dhows (a sight unchanged in centuries) out to catch the wind. Late at night you may hear the pulse of distant drums.
