A member of the Asilia group, Matemwe Bungalows is an achingly peaceful beachside resort comprising well-spaced rustic bungalows built in a stylish yet simple manner on the coast of Zanzibar.

Inside the 14 bungalows, the dark wooden floors, louvred windows, bamboo and hemp furniture all blends to create a sense of simple, organic style. Swing on your hammock in the shade of the private verandah and gaze out to sea; the bungalows are screened from one another by palms and casuarinas for ultimate privacy. Speckling the horizon lies the Mnemba atoll, which offers some of the best diving in the region.

Seafood is a speciality of the house, with all produce bought daily from the local markets. Dinner offers a choice of delicious meat, fish and vegetarian courses. In the evening, the full moon rising out of the sea is a wonderful and romantic sight you will never forget. There are internet, telephone and fax facilities in the main building.
