The 115 remote islands that make up the Seychelles are the remnants of Gondwanaland, an ancient ‘super continent’ that once combined Africa, India, South America and Australia.
The resulting topography is one of the most spectacular on earth, with half of the land mass now designated as National Park – a habitat bursting with rare birds and peculiar animals such as the giant tortoise.
The mild-natured Seychellois seem to know they are blessed: they are deeply proud of their islands and happy to share in their little slice of paradise. Thankfully, ecotourism is big in this blessed archipelago and a determination to preserve the natural bounty of this country is set in stone. |
